I am – Hercules!!

To close this last day of sweeps and last day of the regular TV season we turn to another show in serious comeback mode.

The shockingly rickety kickoff to the Bartlet campaign has largely been forgotten, replaced now with fonder memories of McGarry and Fitzwallace mulling terms of war, the dizzying Mary Louise Parker making short work of Josh’s phone cord, Hoynes returning to the fold, Toby updating the list, the sharp chemistry that comes between C.J. and her new bodyguard, Donnatella’s point-of-origin issues, and Seaborn fury as the campaign grows uglier.

Last year we ended with an embattled president cursing the Almighty from a cathedral floor. How, you may ask, can they hope to top that?

TV Guide says:

President Bartlet (Martin Sheen) has a life-and-death decision to make as the third season concludes. The Qumari defense minister, who's secretly a terrorist mastermind, is arriving in the U.S., and Leo and Fitz want him killed. It may be legal, but is it right? Bartlet wrestles with that question as he observes the soul searching of another political leader, Henry VI, during a benefit performance of Shakespeare's War of the Roses plays. Meanwhile, C.J. and Simon Donovan (Mark Harmon) come to an understanding of sorts; and Charlie recommends a woman (Lily Tomlin) – someone who had once helped him – to become Bartlet's new secretary. The job interview doesn't go well at all.
