Feral Kid reports in on David Goyer and Alex Proyas!!!
Hey folks, Harry here with a report from the Feral Kid and what happened at the screening of DARK CITY yesterday in Los Angeles at the gorgeous and amazing EGYPTIAN THEATER... After the film there was a Q&A and this is what that wacky boomerang flinger remembers...
Harry,
Tonight, I attended a screening of "Dark City" at the Egyptian Theatre in
Hollywood, courtesy of the American Cinematheque. Afterwards, there was a Q
& A with Alex Proyas and David S. Goyer. They both had great comments about
the film, but what was most interesting were their responses to the
question, "What next?" Goyer said "Blade 2" and then "Ghost Rider" with
Stephen Norrington, as was announced before. He said that the studio isn't
going to be prepared with how disturbing "Ghost Rider" will actually be,
and that he and Norrington will be given carte blanche when making it, much
like the situation was with "Dark City". Proyas said that he'd been
working on a website for the past six months, mysteryclock.com, which he
said will launch in two months. He said that it's going to be VERY cool,
and will include short films, among other things. But, much to the
disappointment to the crowd, it sounded like he didn't have any movie in
the works, whether it be that comedy I'd heard about, or "Masque of the Red
Death".
My favorite point of the Q & A was when someone asked Proyas whether the
opening narration in "Dark City" was his idea, or if the studio made them
stick that in. Proyas said, "Sure, it's every director's dream to have the
entire plot of the movie given away in the first fifteen seconds!" He also
said that there's a following of fans who watch the opening with no sound
until Kiefer Sutherland's character first appears, and he thinks that is
"really cool."
