HERC Reviews ANGEL 3.8!!

Angel 3.8 FAQ

What’s it called?

”Quickening.”

Who’s responsible?

Teleplay is credited to Jeffrey Bell (“That Vision-Thing,” “Billy”).

What does TV Guide say?

“As Angel and the gang try to figure out what exactly is inside Darla - who's now having contractions - news of her pregnancy causes near pandemonium at Wolfram & Hart. Meanwhile, the demon Sahjhan (Jack Conley) tries to bring a newly resurrected Holtz (Keith Szarabajka) up to speed on what he missed over the last couple of centuries.”

The big news?

An ultrasound reveals something unexpected about Darla’s baby.

The other big news?

Fred and Wes have a first-act translation breakthrough. “The Tro-Clon isn’t a person or persons,” explains the former rogue demon hunter. “It’s a confluence of events.” “Which means,” adds Cordelia, “it not only involves you, Darla and the child, but other horrible things we don’t know about.”

What is TV Guide not telling us?

Lilah’s humping the faux-Angel a few episodes back comes back to haunt her.

Does Darla give birth this episode?

She does not.

Anything new about the baby that we don’t learn from the ultrasound?

There’s some sort of deadly vampire cult that refers to Darla’s fetus as “the miracle child.”

Why does Sahjhan, the time demon, help Holtz?

He wants to be rid of Angel too, for reasons no doubt related to the Tro-Clon.

Are Sahjhan and/or Holtz working for Wolfram & Hart?

They are not.

How can you be certain?

You’ll see.

Any sign of Krevlornswath (of the Deathwok Clan)?

The host sits it out (and he is not particularly missed).

What’s good?

Almost all the goings-on at Wolfram & Hart, and particularly the lawyers’ discovery that they may no longer be the biggest bad in Angel’s life. Some of the time demon’s dialogue. The voicemail of Master Tarfall, Underlord of Pain. Dr. Fetvanovich’s gait. The mystery of Holtz’s new minions and his final battle.

What’s not so good?

The Darla story continues to develop with surprising sluggishness. The most fun is had this week when we’re away from those in Angel Investigations’ employ.

How does it end, spoiler-boy?

With a cliffhanger. Holtz and Angel lay eyes on each other for the first time in over 200 years.
