Sweeps Day 12: HERC's Seen ANGEL Baby!!

Angel 3.20 FAQ

What’s it called?

“A New World.”

Who’s responsible?

Teleplay is credited to Jeffrey Bell (“Billy,” “Quickening,” “Forgiving”).

What does TV Guide say?

“Mere months after Angel's infant son was carried off to a virtually unreachable Hell dimension, the heartbroken vampire's prayers are answered...sort of. A dark and emotionally charged episode marks Connor's return to his father's world - as a teenager. But the reunion is not a happy one. Connor (Vincent Kartheiser) attacks Angel at first sight, fully intending to kill him. When he fails, the confused teen escapes to the mean streets of L.A. Determined to set things straight, Angel searches for his son, who in the interim befriends a troubled but kind homeless girl. Meanwhile, the dimensional rift through which the young man traveled continues to cause trouble at the hotel.”

What kind of trouble at the hotel?

The rift is not a portal; it's a "tear in reality" that keeps spitting out dangerous electrical discharges. And there’s concern the mate of the thing Angel’s boy killed might be coming through soon.

What is TV Guide not telling us?

Krevlornswath recruits a blue-haired honey named Mistress Meerna. A mistress of transdimensional portals, she puts one in the mind of Alan Moore’s warpsmiths: her mastery allows her to move at impossible speeds.

The big news?

We learn precious little of what Angel’s boy has been up to. We do learn that his name is now Steven, he spent a lot of his time Quar-Toth hunting, he considers Holtz daddy, and he’s inherited much of Holtz’s world view. Before we learn much more, he tells Angel, “I have to go.”

Does Steven have to go back to Quar-Toth?

No.

Do we learn where Steven has to go?

At the very end.

Does Steven happen to befriend the hottest homeless girl on the planet’s face?

She’s the cutest of all homeless, filthy dope fiends.

Is there filthy homeless sex?

There is, at minimum, filthy homeless kissage.

Is Steven as tough as he looks?

Tougher. He can scramble up the sides of buses and leap off very tall overpasses without injury.

Does Wes turn up?

Wes gets two scenes – but only one with dialogue.

What about Wolfram & Hart?

Lilah turns up early on, bearing a gift.

Is death her gift?

It’s a book. She offers it to a prospective employee.

Does Cordy do demon stuff?

Not this week.

What’s great?

Lots. The pacing. The plotting. The sweeps-caliber special effects. Lilah. Cordelier and her Groosalugg. And Wes’ continued absence gives the others more to do.

What’s not so great?

Angel may seem to undo Holtz’s brainwashing a bit too quickly and easily.

How does it end, spoiler-boy?

The same way (sort of) the last episode did.
