Brosnan out... Owen in' The 6th man for 007' Tarantino & Brosnan' Wildness...

Hey folks, Harry here... Ok, so we've been seeing and hearing Clive Owen rumors regarding Bond ever since fanboys fell in love with him while watching CROUPIER. Then there were those damn commercials that seemed like auditions shot by the world's action directors for Clive to get the gig. Then his coolness in BOURNE IDENTITY.... And then in the last several days HEAVY speculation by all manners of folks saying he's the next Bond... various tabloids... it's been all over some British tabloids. And now CNBC is getting into it...

Harry,

This must be the gazillionth email, but I'm watching West Wing on Bravo and they had a CNBC Business Report update, and they announced that Clive Owen is expected to be named the 6th Bond very soon, as Brosnan is stepping down.

Now, I normally despise the modern 007 flicks, but this might just swing me around.

btw, we met briefly at Scarecrow Video last July in Seattle. Not that you'd remember, but just wanted to mention it.

Thanks,

Jason

Ok... so according to CNBC, Brosnan is stepping down as Bond. That's not confirmed as far as I'm concerned yet, so keep that as a rumor, but why would he be stepping down? Perhaps, perhaps it has to do with this story that Robogeek tipped me off about from The New York Daily News....

Tarantino on tackling 007

"Someday I'm going to get the rights to do 'Casino Royale,' the first James Bond novel, and do it the right way. I really wanted it to be my followup to 'Pulp Fiction' and do it with Pierce Brosnan, but have it take place after the events of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' - after Bond's wife, Tracy, has been killed."I want Bond to be in mourning when he falls in love with Vesper Lynd, the woman in the novel. From what I know of Brosnan and read in interviews, I think he'd want to go in the direction I'd want to take Bond, though I'm not certain producers of the series would agree."

Ok... now the above is Quentin's out-loud wondering... or is it? In one of the gazillion interviews I've read with Quentin this past 20 days, I saw him mention that his MEN ON A MISSION flick INGLORIOUS BASTARDS was most likely, not his next film. He wanted to do something less EPIC than that after KILL BILL. Now, this is where I go What If on yuz asses... WHAT IF... Tarantino has somehow gotten the rights to CASINO ROYALE.... WHAT IF... Quentin discussed this with Brosnan... What if Brosnan knew that so long as he was in the "Official" Bond role, he'd never get to do this with Quentin... and what if this dream project would come together?

That's a lot of what ifs... but damn if they ain't juicy! Now chew...
