Well, we don’t officially know yet, but here’s an interesting rumor:

This is just a rumor, I'm not trying to start anything, I heard this from a source Behind scenes of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe". Apparently, (maybe) Sean Connery wants to be the wise Lion...He's still kicking himself for turning down Gandalf, and tried to make it up in "League" (we know that didn't do it), so he wants in on the next big hit.
They just have to decide if they want a lion with a Scottish accent. He or she told me this is just office talk now, and they may go for someone cheaper....Thanks for your time.

Connery passed on THE MATRIX and LORD OF THE RINGS. I would imagine he is looking for the next big thing he can lend his talents to, and this might well be that sort of project. For now, treat this as a rumor, and we’ll see what we can dig up as far as confirming it goes.
