UPDATED!! Ricky Gervais in M:I 3' Plus Winslet and Law in his new sitcom'

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with some exciting news for us fans of THE OFFICE. Ricky Gervais (aka David Brent "And people said she was just a big pair of tits...") looks to be appearing in some capacity in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 according to a Reuters story that was taken from an interview he did for THe Daily Mirror.

The Daily Mirror newspaper also reported Gervais had been offered a part in "Mission Impossible III" by director Jeffrey Abrams.

"I know the director well and he said: 'Do you want a part?' I just replied: 'Yeah, that will be great'," Gervais told the Daily Mirror.

That is friggin' sweet to me. Darabont screenplay, yummy-yummy-in-my-tummy Scarlett Johansson and now Ricky Gervais? Hopefully this sequel will blow John Woo's turdfest into obscurity.

Other news in the world of Gervais is info about his follow-up sitcom to THE OFFICE called EXTRAS. According to The Sun in London, Kate Winslet and Jude Law are going to star in the sitcom. That doesn't sound completely right to me... they may have cameos, especially considering the below quote from Gervais, but I doubt they'll have starring roles. I could be wrong, but read the below and tell me what it sounds like to you.

"It's great to have Kate Winslet and Jude Law on board as we have so few British people who have made it big in Hollywood, but these are two who have," Gervais told The Sun. "In 'Extras' Jude and Kate play twisted versions of themselves," Gervais added.

Gervais will be playing an aging movie extra in this series. No word on whether or not if Stephen Merchant is going to be involved. Yahoo has the full story, taken from Reuters, here:

Exciting times for us OFFICE fans. His new series sounds perfectly tuned into his sense of humor and his inclusion into MI3 makes me happy in pants. Now, let's just hope we get some awesome cameos in EXTRAS like Mackenzie Crook, Lucy Davis and Martin Freeman (who'll be big enough after HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE to play an asshole big name actor that mistreats Gervais!!). Let's also hope us Americans get a chance to see this series as it runs and not have to wait for BBC America reruns or the DVD sets!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here again with some more info on EXTRAS and another Gervais series about Teachers!!! Check it out here:

Hi Quint,

Just seen your EXTRAs article on the site and wanted to help clear up a few of your questions. These aint spoilers just facts i know about Extras that I've read in the press over the last few months. Martin, Lucy and Mackenzie WONT be making an appearances - they will however be playing teachers in Gervais next proposed series about...TEACHERS! Gervaisn plays a Spots teachers and McKenzie is the headmaster, i believe. But that's a while off, if extras is successful expect to see a 2nd series, so the teachers sitcom wont be around for at least another 18months. Ste Merchent WILL be making an appearance, i recently read an interview in ZOO magazine, he was quoted as saying "rickey gets all the recognition and money, so i think its my turn" - sounds like we'll be seeing some more ste, which is fun!

Winslet and Law are strick cameos, we wont see them beyond 2 or 3 scenes, perhaps like David Duchovny or the many guests on Larry Sanders, one episode thats it. Although i think David did two!? I also heard that Tom hanks and Tom Cruise are massive fans, so who knows!? The scripts aren't even complete yet.

Just a heads up for you, hope it helps

Ryan McDermott
