Most Americans didn’t see Seth Bullock’s nephew break his back last week. They didn’t see Wolcott butcher a roomful of hookers for kicks. They didn’t see Amos Cochran pull an obstruction out of Al Swearengen’s weiner.
At 9 p.m. Sundays, most people with television sets are watching Terri Hatcher falling through holes in the floor or locking herself out of the house on “Desperate Housewives.” (Which I understand is excellent; the people who hand out those Golden Globes, remember, decided a month or two ago that “Desperate Housewives” was even funnier than Fox’s “Arrested Development.” So I guess that wipes out decades of the Globes’ credibility problems.)
George Hearst is coming to “Deadwood” before season’s end. Did “Housewives” ever disclose why that singsongy hausfrau decided to kill herself in the pilot?
