UPDATED! Is Alan Cumming Leaving X-MEN'!

Hey, everyone. "Moriarty" here. Just saw this on the site and wanted to chime in briefly. This news strikes me as a bit odd. I've been talking more with people involved with the film in the last week, and Nightcrawler is included in the script, or was in a very recent draft. Not a huge role, but I like where and when he was introduced, and it seemed like at least he'd show up in the film. If this is true, then that's a shame.

I also want to correct the impression that we printed the script review because we think the film is doomed. Far from it. The only thing that would doom this film would be rushing it into production to meet an arbitrary date when the script's still unfinished. I actually liked a lot of the ideas discussed in that review, and I would say the review itself was actually mixed more than negative. TheBigHurt certainly didn't say he hated the script. Go back and read that review again. There's a lot of things he says he likes. And even in the intro to the piece, where did we ever say, "Oh, that's it, the film is ruined"? As always, the fan community focuses only on the negative, and I'll take some of the responsibility for that. By including the script review and the opinion piece on Rothman together, it made it seem much more negative than it should have. I hope this film gets sorted out. I hope we get a great X3 when it happens. I'm not about to give up on the film or on the larger franchise. I like the world of the X-MEN too much to do that, and I think there are plenty of people working on the films who still give a shit, just as I think that guys like David Hayter and Dougherty and Harris and Bryan Singer and Tom DeSanto and even Chris McQuarrie have all obviously cared deeply about the series while they were working on it and helping make it what it is right now. I want a great X3, and that's the point in discussing this stuff right now. Things can definitely change between now and when they shoot, and when you've got people who want to make it work giving it their full attention, then maybe they'll pull it off. I can tell you this... Fox and Marvel are well aware of the reaction to last week's leaks, and they do listen. Keep it in perspective, though. If all you can do is complain about what you hate, it won't make any difference at all. If you can focus on what might be, and try to channel that passion into pushing for positive change, then that's the way to affect some real change, hopefully.

Anyway... I'm sure we're just getting warmed up with all of this. Expect much more X3 news in the weeks and months ahead. For now, here's the original story...

Hey folks, Harry here... X-fans sure could use some good cool news right about now... like the film being delayed so that it can be given the time and attention necessary for it to be the best film it could possibly be. Or a new head of Fox that wants to protect one of its most valuable properties instead of just exploiting it into extinction. Sigh. Here ya go...

Wow. This is depressing. I'll let the article speak for itself.

Are You Cumming?

If that doesn't link you directly to it, click on the "Up and Cumming" section and read the first bit of news.

If ever there was a time when Ain't it Cool needed to exploit the vast legion of fans to stop a trainwreck in motion, now is it.

I mean, come on. He was great.
