One of the things that I think will ultimately strengthen the “comic book movie” genre is when people stop focusing only on the big titles and realize that there is a wealth of material out there that deserves to be tackled on the bigscreen, stuff that doesn’t fit easily into what we think of as comic books. I was really excited to see that New Line is tackling Grant Morrison’s WE3, and this announcement is also encouraging:

I was at a signing yesterday in Seattle with Greg Rucka, Batman writer and novelist as well as the Queen and Country series of novels and comics.
Greg let slip that Fox Searchlight had just exercised its option on his Queen and Country series and that it was currently under development at Fox. He also mentioned that although he had offered his input, he wasn't going to be directly involved with the development.
I should also mention that he's a really nice guy -- Tim Sale was there as well, and the two of them were a pleasure to meet...
