It seems that at various points during the CBS Broadcast and immediately thereafter... we will see some badass trailers for some of the KEY geeky cool films for the rest of the year.

According to USA TODAY, somewhere right around the SUPER BOWL will be a big PEARL HARBOR trailer... which won't be playing during the game perse... but either during Half Time or in the Post-Game section!

Sony is going to be using the Super Bowl to give folks the introduction to A KNIGHT'S TALE. Anticipate an ad that uses the 'We Will Rock You' section that opens the movie and highlights the use of 'stadium music' as a parallel to the Jousting events of long ago.... Much like the GLADIATOR trailer did at last year's Super Bowl. Sony better pray their spot is BEFORE the Lord of the Rings spot that NEW LINE is buying. Also... on that A KNIGHT'S TALE trailer expect a spectacular splintering of a lance in an almost Peckinpahian or Wooian way.

As I mentioned above... New Line is going to be unfurling a LORD OF THE RINGS commercial... the first tv spot to start them all. At this point there is no word as to the length of the spot or the content, but I hope they have cut a spot that is better than the theatrical teaser we've seen. The crowd watching the Super Bowl is going to want to see something.... more eye-catching.... The film has the material.... will New Line Use It? 2 weeks to see!

MGM is going to be unleashing a 30 second HANNIBAL spot, while I understand the immediate... oh my... of using this to signal that the film is coming less than 2 weeks later, I was kind of hoping they'd throw in a ROLLERBALL trailer that kicked ass.... I mean, this is the absolute TARGET AUDIENCE for that film... Oh well, so much for the marketing teams at MGM...

Universal is going to be the big dick of the evening... they've decided to unleash 3 spots over the evening. The first is set to be THE MUMMY RETURNS... expect them to really highlight The Rock in this spot as that guy is probably the demographic push they'll want to burn into sports crazed minds. Also expect lots and lots and lots of special effects. The 2nd spot is anticipated to be our first look at JURASSIC PARK 3. So far we've had behind the scenes looks, but no film footage. I expect we'll see a quarter second of the T-Rex and Spinosaurus going at one another. At least that's my fanboy dream. hehehe.... And for the 3rd Spot? Noone is saying, but my gut feeling is telling me that they'll use the high college male audience demographic to unleash a teaser for AMERICAN PIE 2

Then Warner Brothers is going to give us a 30 second glimpse at the first HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCEROR'S STONE film if the rumors still hold. Personally if they had a glimpse of the Quidditch Match, that would pretty much rule. BUT Warners does have other films they could promote here.... Like some real footage from A.I. or even OSMOSIS JONES.... But HARRY POTTER makes the most sense for this sort of exposure.
