Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Now, Terrence Malick's an Austin boy and we totally claim him. But he grew up in Bartlesville, OK and has been prepping his next film there for quite a while. There have been sightings of Christian Bale in association with this Untitled Film for a long time now. It's an unusually quick turnaround for Malick. He's still tinkering with Tree of Life, but considering this guy is positively Kubrickian in the long periods of time between projects the fact that he's working on another flick now is kind of mind-blowing. There's not much going on in Bartlesville, so when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner turned up, touring the same locations Bale and Malick did for the upcoming film, they caused a bit of a stir. Affleck told a local at a local Bass Pro shop he's preparing to play a fisherman in a film to lens in the city that fall and bought some fishing rods and lures. The Film Commission isn't confirming anything, but I think it's a safe bet we'll see Affleck in a Terrence Malick movie. Or maybe it's Jennifer Garner. What a twist! The flick is said to star Bale, Javier Bardem, Olga Kurylenko and Rachel McAdams and was described at the Berlin Film Market as a "powerful and moving love story." Affleck could be joining the cast or replacing an existing cast member. While the movie is said to begin filmming this fall there are rumblings that it might already be filming. As per usual with Malick's films there's a thick shroud of secrecy surrounding the project, but nobody's really talking about this particular development yet so I figured you guys would want a heads up at what might be on the horizon.
